The Materials Behind Pure's Carbon Fiber Boats

Carbon fiber is praised by those looking for lite weight and strength. It is the material of choice for any Grand Prix racing yacht as well modern fighter and stealth air craft. So why build a RIB boat from Carbon fiber?

  1. Weight saving. By building a RIB boat that is lighter weight you are able to choose a smaller engine and get a power to weight ratio that is comparable and sometimes better than a comparable boat with a much larger engine. This translates to better fuel economy, and an overall weight that is 20%-30% less than the competition in some cases.

  2. Vibration dampening. Rigid hull inflatable boats use their tube to mitigate shock from pounding through rough water. Carbon fiber adds high frequency vibration dampening to create an even smoother ride.

  3. Strength. Carbon fiber has an extremely high strength to weight ratio, in some cases more than steel or aluminum. The nature of the material and construction techniques used also produce an extremely efficient rigid hull that does not suffer from flex and power loss like other materials.
